-the extent to which an action is right or wrong.

ETHICS (pl. n.)

1) Moral principles that govern a person’s or group’s behavior

-the moral correctness of specified conduct.

2) the branch of knowledge that deals with moral principles.

Daniel Ellsberg’s leaked “Pentagon Papers” article on the front page of the New York Times, 1971. The “Pentagon Papers” served as an official record of the United States’ political-military involvement in Vietnam from 1945-1967. The New York Times stated: “the papers illustrated that the Johnson Administration had systematically lied, not only to the public but also to Congress, about a subject of transcendent national interest and significance.” The report was declassified and publicly released in June 2011.
